- Navigate to Chat Details: Access the chat for which you want to search messages by date, whether it’s an individual chat or a group chat.
- Find the Search Option: Inside the chat interface, identify the chat details feature usually denoted by three dots or lines positioned at the upper right corner. Tap on it to reveal the menu.
- Tap on Search: In the chat details menu, select the search option to initiate the search process.
- Choose Date: Upon tapping the search option, you’ll see a calendar icon. Tap on it to open the date selector.
- Select Specific Date: A calendar will appear, allowing you to scroll through months and days. Choose the date you’re interested in searching for messages.
- View Results: WhatsApp will display all messages from the selected date within the chat.
- Scroll Through Messages: Now, you can effortlessly scroll through the messages to find what you’re looking for on that specific date.
WhatsApp Latest Update: Text Formatting Feature
In addition to the search-by-date feature, WhatsApp recently introduced new text formatting options, enhancing the messaging experience for users across iOS, Android, web, and Mac platforms. These features, including bulleted lists, numbered lists, block quotes, and inline code, offer versatile formatting capabilities for both one-on-one and group chats, as well as in the Channels broadcast feature.
How to Use Text Formatting Feature on WhatsApp
- Bulleted Lists: Commence with the “-” symbol, then add a space after it.
- Numbered Lists: Start with a digit, followed by a full stop and a space (e.g., “1. “).
- Block Quotes: Emphasise text by typing “>” and leaving a space afterward.
- Inline Code: Surround the code excerpt with “`” symbols.
These additions empower users to communicate more effectively by formatting their messages seamlessly across different devices and communication channels.
