However, both teams will keep an eye on the weather in Nottingham where the threat of rain looms large. The practice session was washed on Tuesday but the teams could manage to train for an hour on Wednesday after which the rain returned.

New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson said his team was determined to get the full 2 points against India.

“It’s the World Cup. We’re playing against India in the World Cup and it is an opportunity to get two points and we don’t want to get rained-out games,” he said.

“I don’t think any players do but if that happens then so be it. We can not control that but we are looking forward to playing India and getting some confidence against them.”
