WhatsApp is Working on Making Its Search Tool Better. WhatsApp is testing a bunch of different features for iOS and Android. The messaging app is working on a search by date tool, search image on the web, and new tools for storage usage.

The latest plethora of features was revealed by WABetaInfo. Note that these features are in alpha testing so WhatsApp public beta users on Android and iOS won’t have access to them. There’s also no confirmation on when WhatsApp will introduce these features or if they’ll ever make it official.

Starting with search by date, this tool will let users pick specific dates for chats. For this new feature, a calendar icon will appear next to the text bar when the search tool on WhatsApp is selected. Tap on the calendar and pick a date and WhatsApp will show chats from that day.

WhatsApp is working on revamping the storage usage section with new features. Users will be able to check large files and forwarded files specifically. WhatsApp will also let users check for photos specifically in chats. Now when you tap on photos under storage use, it will show all photos shared in that chat. These photos can also be sorted by size, newest and oldest.

WhatsApp has been working on searching for images on the web. This feature has been under development for Android, and it is now being worked on for iOS too. It lets users search for images shared on WhatsApp on the web. There will be a magnifying tool next to the image. It’s one way WhatsApp is trying to curb the spread of misinformation on its app.
