OnePlus 6 Release Date, Specifications, Price and Leaks
There’s no doubt that OnePlus is consistently teasing the upcoming flagship phone, it can be said that the company is preparing to launch it earlier this year. It is speculated that the smartphone may debut as early as at the end of this month. CEO Pete Lau confirmed the report on the OnePlus blog and said that the smartphone will come with the Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8 GB of RAM 256 GB built-in storage (with microSD slot), 6.28-inch (1080×2280) Full HD + Optic AMOLED display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a notched display. The device will be also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass on top, it might also feature other screen calibration options such as DCI-P3.
At the rear panel, OnePlus 6 is expected to sport a dual rear setup with 16 MP + 20 MP primary camera with the f/1.7 aperture on both lenses & 20 MP front-facing camera with the f/1.7 aperture, dash charge support, glass design with wireless charging support, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, face unlock, non-removable 3450mAh battery, it will run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with Oxygen OS on top. More information on it is expected to surface in the coming weeks.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, speaking to CNET at this year’s CES 2018, confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will be unveiled in “late Q2 2018”, which means a June launch is more likely on the cards. Another side – Carl Pei, co-founder and public face of OnePlus told The Verge that the OnePlus 6’s notch will be different to that of the iPhone X. “How big a notch always depends on your choices as a company. What you are essentially doing is moving the entire notification bar up, giving users more content on their screen,” he said. “Our notch, it will be there,” he added, noting: “I’ll be bigger than the Essential Phone, smaller than the iPhone.” So the next OnePlus will look to have a pretty much bezel-less display, not that the current OnePlus 5T has chunky bezels by any stretch of the imagination.
Unlikely OnePlus will have many surprises in store at its upcoming OnePlus 6 launch, as the company has confirmed (below) that the handset’s ‘alert slider’ will allow users to adjust the camera focus, as well as to alter the handset’s volume settings.
